Dear FGSD Families,
Today I will highlight a few important happenings in the district. These are of significant importance and we encourage you to take a minute to review and participate.
Instructional Vision Family Input
The District is facilitating a digital conversation to collect input from all district families regarding the instructional vision of the district. We want to know what you feel are the most important attributes, skills and traits for students to learn before they graduate and move forward into their future next steps. Family input is extremely important to this process. Individuals can choose to participate in English or in Spanish.
To join the conversation, please follow the link below. You will be asked to respond to a question, and you may answer as many times as you would like. Please only put one thought per response. After you have entered your responses, you will have the opportunity to rate others’ responses (anonymously) on how strongly you agree with them.
Budget Meeting
A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the Forest Grove School District will be to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Due to COVID exposures, this meeting will be held via Zoom. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee. Public comment can also be given virtually via Zoom or comments can be provided in advance for a District employee to read at the meeting. An additional meeting of the Forest Grove School District Budget Committee is scheduled to be held on the 19th day of May, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
Bond Development Committee
The District has convened a Bond Development Committee consisting of community members and district staff to prioritize district building needs. Through their work, the district will receive a prioritized list of projects that can be addressed by a bond campaign that is targeted to be placed on the November 2022 election ballot.
The District will also hold community meetings to collect additional feedback. We encourage you to review the past work of this and the Long Range Facilities Planning Committees’ work to familiarize yourself with the needs of the district with regard to facilities. There is a lot of important information contained in the work that these committees have and are doing that will inform you of the district’s need. We will continue to share information regarding this future bond.

Important Information
District Event on Stress & Anxiety
We are hosting a district-wide PreK-12 parent/caregiver virtual event around supporting students experiencing stress and anxiety. This virtual event will be co-facilitated by Courtney Bennett, school counselor at Echo Shaw, and Mental Health Care Coordinators Hanna Durdel and Kendra Pittman. This event will be virtual and is offered in both English and Spanish.

Unified Performers Presents
“A Beautiful City” will run on May 20th & 21st at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. As usual there is no charge, but donations are always gladly accepted. With this production we will also be taking donations for the World Central Kitchen.

Annual Ballet PerformanceThe annual ballet performance will be held on June 10th and 11th at the FGHS auditorium at 7pm. The 6/10 performance will also feature the Cornelius level 1 performers and the 6/11 performance will feature the Echo Shaw level 1 performers. Tickets can be purchased on their website.

Aporte de la familia de la visión instructiva
El distrito está facilitando una conversación digital para recopilar aportes de todas las familias del distrito con respecto a la visión educativa del distrito. Reunión de presupuesto
Una reunión pública del Comité de Presupuesto del Distrito Escolar de Forest Grove será para discutir el presupuesto para el año fiscal del 1 de julio de 2022 al 30 de junio de 2023. Comité de Desarrollo de Bonos
El Distrito ha convocado un Comité de Desarrollo de Bonos compuesto por miembros de la comunidad y personal del distrito para priorizar las necesidades de construcción del distrito. A través de su trabajo, el distrito recibirá una lista priorizada de proyectos que pueden abordarse mediante una campaña de bonos que se incluirá en la boleta electoral de noviembre de 2022.
El Distrito también llevará a cabo reuniones comunitarias para recopilar comentarios adicionales. Lo alentamos a revisar el trabajo anterior de este y el trabajo de los Comités de Planificación de Instalaciones a Largo Plazo para familiarizarse con las necesidades del distrito con respecto a las instalaciones. Evento distrital sobre estrés y ansiedad
Estamos organizando un evento virtual para padres/cuidadores de PreK-12 en todo el distrito para apoyar a los estudiantes que experimentan estrés y ansiedad.
