Fern Hill parents,
We miss you all!! Fern Hill is not the same without our families. Please let your child know that we are thinking of them and wishing you all well.
The Fern Hill staff is working hard each day to prepare for Long Distance Learning, which will begin Monday, April 13th. I encourage you to try to access the student work online if possible. If you are unable to access the online option, packets will be available to be picked up at the school.
Packets (with enough work for two weeks) will be provided at the school beginning Monday, April 13th. Previously, all "supplemental activities" were voluntary. Beginning on Monday, April 13th, classwork will be expected to be completed by students and turned in so that we can provide feedback to students. School staff will be available at the building to distribute packets on these days:
- Monday, April 13th from 8-10am and 5-7pm
- Tuesday, April 14th from 8-10am and 5-7pm
- Wednesday, April 15th from 8-10am and 5-7pm
Each classroom teacher has created a Google Classroom which will allow you and your child to access lessons, videos, and communicate with your child's teacher. Please contact your teacher by email if you are not currently set up in their Google Classroom.
Each teacher will have a daily 30 minute "Google Community" which will be live each day via Google Hangouts Meet. This will give students the opportunity to build a community with their classmates and teacher. No instruction will happen during this time, just a time for students to connect!
Teachers and Specialists will also have a set 1 hour "Office Hour" to be available to you or your child each day (bilingual interpreter provided). This will be the time for you to contact your child’s teacher to ask any questions about the lessons your child is working on.

¡¡Los extrañamos mucho!! Fern Hill no es lo mismo sin las familias y los estudiantes. Por favor, dígale a su hijo/a que todos los días pensamos en ellos y que deseamos que se encuentren bien.
El personal de Fern Hill sigue trabajando duro para prepararse para el Aprendizaje a Distancia, el cual dará inicio el lunes 13 de abril. Les pido a todos que intenten acceder al trabajo para estudiantes por internet, si es posible. De lo contrario, los paquetes de trabajo impresos los podrán recoger en la escuela.
Los paquetes de trabajo (con suficiente tarea para dos semanas) se distribuirán en la escuela a partir del lunes 13 de abril. En estos últimos días, todas las "actividades suplementarias" no eran obligatorias. A partir del lunes 13 de abril, se espera que los alumnos terminen el trabajo de clase y lo entreguen para que los maestros les puedan brindar sus comentarios. El personal escolar estará disponible en la escuela para distribuir paquetes en los siguientes días/horarios:
- Lunes 13 de abril de 8 a 10 am y de 5 a 7 pm
- Martes 14 de abril de 8 a 10 am y de 5 a 7 pm
- Miércoles 15 de abril de 8 a 10 am y de 5 a 7 pm
Los maestros de cada aula han creado un aula virtual (Google Classroom) que permitirá a los papás y a los estudiantes acceder a las lecciones, videos tutoriales así como comunicarse con sus maestros. Por favor comuníquese con el maestro por correo electrónico si su hijo/a no tiene listo Google Classroom en su computadora o dispositivo.
Cada maestro tendrá una reunión diaria por 30 minutos a la que llamaremos “Google Community”. Esta reunión será transmitida en vivo todos los días a través de la aplicación Google Hangouts Meet. La meta es dar a los estudiantes la oportunidad de continuar aumentando el sentido de comunidad con sus compañeros y maestros. Durante este tiempo, el maestro no impartirá enseñanza, ¡solo es un tiempo para que los estudiantes se conecten entre sí!
Los maestros y especialistas también tendrán un "Horario de oficina" de 1 hora en la que estarán disponibles para usted o su hijo todos los días (tendremos intérpretes bilingües). Durante esta hora los papás podrán comunicarse con el maestro de su hijo/a para hacerle cualquier pregunta sobre las lecciones en las que su niño esté trabajando.
